Competing Visions for Public Schools
After discussing the competing ideologies of Thorndike and Dewey, we'll examine a classic article on the relevance of an authentic curriculum. Then, you and your colleagues are going to collaborate together to produce an integrated unit plan based on the Oregon state standards. Remembering the basics about using a Madeline Hunter-style lesson plan template, apply your specific content to your group's overarching theme that ties all of your units together. You've already studied how to unpack your standards and create lesson objectives. You're also no stranger to proper assessment basics. Today, however, the focus is on your classroom procedures and the steps that you will take with your lesson plan.
